Comments: i have a '64 malibu convertable with a 327 and a p/glide. im looking for info off of my cowl tag. the info i want to know, immediatly follows the "style" no. on the tag. the #'s 2-6-2 follow the 5667, designating my car a malibu convertable. i am assuming that one of the twos is for st. terese, P.Q., which # is for st. terese, and what do the other #'s designate? some other #'s are there that i could not find. the last line, being my options list, appear as m35(p-glide), u60(man. radio), a space, single letter "T", a space, then the # 16. if anyone could decipher these little goodies for me, it would be greatly apprecaiated...thanks in advance!!- Thursday, October 14, 1999 at 22:20:43 (PDT)

Comments: I am currently restoring a 64 SS. I had one of these fun cars in high school (class of 73). The car is not far from done, but I would like to find two things to make it complete. I need the little trim piece on the left quarter panel. It goes around the Malibu SS emblem. I have one but it is dented. I am also looking for the center part of the console where the shifter fits. Someone cut it out to fit a Hurst shifter. I found a stock shifter to replace it and would like make it original. Any help would be appreciated.- Monday, October 04, 1999 at 10:46:50 (PDT)

Comments: I have a fully restored Canadian 1964 Chevelle Malibu SS built in Oshawa January 4th 1964. The restoration took 7 years to do and included every nut / bolt / screw etc... After the complete redo, I made some modifications to make it a little better. It's now powered by a new GM ZZ4 350 which produces 355HP and 405 foot lbs of torque @ 3500, a Turbo-350 was also installed with a 2200 stall converter and to stop the beast, 1967 stainless steel sleeved 4 piston disc brakes.

Comments: Hey, I know this is trivia but....does anyone know where I can but a couple of Chevelle T-shirts (one for me and one for my 12 year old son Alexander) without paying silly amounts for shipping/handling to England? for example, JEGs have T's but it's $23.99 handling and then shipping on top of that, and most of the others are the same/similar. Surface mail is OK for a T-shirt, before Christmas would be nice! Alexander is really keen on my 64 SS and wants to fly the colours when we go to meetings. Comments: 1964 Malibu SS Original 6 cyl/powerglide car when I bought it, actually traded for it, a '47 Chevy that I had put an Olds 403/TH400 in. Now with '73 truck 454 engine and TH350, engine is fairly stock with the exception of '67 'vette high rise cast iron intake and a Summit .500 lift camshaft. The transmission has a B&M shift kit. Rear is a stock 10-bolt with 3.08 gears, non-posi for now. Just took a trip and averaged 16mpg. Still waiting for my new 4-core radiator...runs a little hot with the current 3-core radiator, next is a shroud and hi-flow water pump. Just added a quick steer power steering off a late model Monte Carlo and a 1" front sway bar off a '79 Caprice, needs a little longer sway bar link for suspension clearance but works for right now, doesn't hit, just close. Will soon be adding a rear sway bar and polyurethane bushings, boxed lower control arms, "B" car front spindles with 12-inch brakes and possibly the 11-inch rear drum brakes off the same "B" car, not sure if that conversion will work, never seen an article on the rear brake conversion. Power brakes are also planned. Love tinkering with it but am trying to keep it on the road with no long down times, was only down for 1-week with the engine change over, had to wait for UPS. Planning on some drag strip testing and possible TH200-4R or TH700-R4 conversion for even better MPG on the highway. Hope the 10-bolt rear lives.- Monday, September 06, 1999 at 13:29:55 (PDT)

Comments: I have 2 1964 El Caminos. The first I've had for about 9 years, used to drive it every day to high school and to college. I have been slowly rebuilding the entire car while driving it. I quit driving it full time about 4 years ago when I dropped in a built 427. Now it goes out on sunny afternoons, and to the strip a couple of times a year. Every time I run it, I find more stuff that needs to be upgraded. I had it repainted about 7 years ago, to the red that was on it when I got it. It was originally blue, as I can tell from behind the kick panels. I would like to repaint it back to the stock color this winter. My trim tag reads PAINT PPA, no numbers, I'm not sure what this means. I upgraded the front end to disc brakes about 2 years ago. I used '71 Chevelle spindles. I also replaced the bushings at the same time. The front sway bar is from a '79 Trans Am, 1.25 inch. The tranny is a Muncie M-21, and the rearend is a 12 bolt posi with 4.56 gears.

Comments: OK, everyone is going to hate me for this but here it goes. I am a true lover of classic GM cars, I love the style. But I also love newer style power (fuel injection and force fed). So I thought up a crazy project... fusing the two together. I have a 64 malibu that is being totally torn apart to make way for a 3.0 liter single turbo TOYOTA 2jz powerplant. Its the engine out of a newer style supra twin turbo. The engine is going to supply around 750 hp of daily driving performance. Now for the question I am looking for a set of coil overs for my car, does anyone know where to find any? Also what is the word on Hotchkis products I have heard they are good items but I want to here it from people who are using them. Thanks alot and please e-mail me if you have any questions about the project or if you can give me any answers to my questions.- Thursday, August 05, 1999 at 23:18:35 (PDT)

I write a monthly article for club magazine of the American Auto Club of Great Britain (about 2500 - 3000 members) and I'm just finishing next months article - this time on 64 and 65 Chevelles. I hope to cover the rest of the family later. Reason for me writing is that I'm a bit short of decent photographs. Does anyone have any pictures that they could scan and send me by EM that I might use? Particularly 64 and 65s are pretty rare over here - I haven't seen another 64 SS at all!! I have sent an EM some time ago asking for permission to use any of the pictues aval on this site as wallpaper but have had no reply. Also, I wonder if someone could help with one other question - what year was the current Malibu introduced, 1997? I just want to mention it in my intro. Comments: Hello Fellow Chevellers,
I finished my 1964 Malibu project car a few years ago. I started with a fairly clean and solid southern car. It had a 6-cylinder, 3-speed manual transmision (on the column) and no other redeaming features besides air condition. I lucked out in finding and buying two 64 SS parts cars from which I used the cool parts like the bucket seats, M-21 4-speed, console, steering column, radiator, ect. I had a small journal 327 rebuilt with many high performance parts including headers dual exhaust w/balance pipe, and a positraction rear-end. Runs well when I get around to driving it!
EXTRA PARTS!
I have alot of extra 64 chevelle parts including one of the ss parts cars which is intact but beyond repair. It does have the original 283 with matching numbers. I also have a few 64 chevelle convertible parts including a rear seat & boot. And a few 70 & 71 chevelle parts like glass, a grill, a dash etc. I may as well sell these parts. Call to discuss availability, price, condition, etc.

(by me) shifted by a modified Z gate B&M shifter, the rear end is out of a 67 SS its a 12bolt w/ much mods welded tubes braced housing etc.. it has a 4 series carrier w/ richmond 3:73 gears, it had an 8.2 3:08 pegleg and w/ these gears it ran a best of 11.78 @ 118 and believe it or not that thing spun both wheels every time w/ 60's in the 1.8 range, it didnt break just kept on doin is job so I retired it to a buddys stock 68. The wheels are chevy ralleys w/flat caps (no trim ring), but are of custom offsets the fronts are 15x5 w/165SR15's w/2.625 neg offset to set the wheel out towards the fender edge looks like a 15x8 from the side, but from the front looks bad to the bone, the backs are 15x8's w/4.625 positive offset and I use two pairs, on the street I run M/T sportsman Pros 26x12.5 these do not rub I went through many offsets until I found one that gave a 3/8" of clearance on the back and at least 3/8" on the front. The other pair have 28x9 M/T et drags slicks again more clearance than w/ the street set cool huh. I have yet to try her out with the 3.73's but she feels much stronger, it should run low elevens. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll get some good air and she'll pop off a high 10 for me on the motor, I'm gunning for 9.90's @ 130ish on the spray. All this and still running 93 octane to boot. It weighs in at 3280 and 3550 w/me in it, its pretty damn reliable too, my wife, kids and I just moved and I used it to haul 90% of our stuff hows that for dual purpose. Anyway on to the things I could use I need a dash bezel mines been painted to many times and I could also use a decent set of door panels, If anyone reading this has some of these items let me know, o yeah I need a drivers side tailgate hinge mine broke, a rather large buddy of mine well, ya know the rest...Thanks and by the way, don't get caught.- Saturday, January 16, 1999 at 00:54:09 (PST)

I bought it last July ('98) with the interior redone with blazer buckets and steering wheel. It's primered up but some old bondo has made the panels wrinkle badly, so I need new ones.
It's a little rusted, behind the rear wheels as well. The (dash) bezel is slightly cracked but I should be able to repair that.
I'm looking for left and right rear quarter panels. If you could help me at all, I would appreciate it very much, as I'm about to turn 16 (2-8-99) and would like to have it looking good for the high school drags.- Thursday, January 07, 1999 at 13:18:19 (PST)

Comments: I have a 64 chevelle and I am almost finished my restoration. I am looking for a chevy am radio that would match my car. Did the chevelle's radio interchange with nova's or other gm cars? If I could find this out it might make finding one in a junk yard easier!
