Comments: I have a 1969 el chevelle that used to have a 350, but i took it out and replaced it with a chevy 502 engine! that's right! 502 cubic inches! This unusual engine is only used in boats. After fixing up my exhaust and installing a new carb, i am glad to say that it puts out over 600 hp. I had to do a lot of work to my chevelle to make it so this engine would fit, rebuilding my AT, and doing quite a bit of welding. But it looks sharp! It is dark green w/gray interior. i WANT TO RACE SOMEBODY SO I CAN BLOW 'EM AWAY! email me if you want to purchase it- Tuesday, December 28, 1999 at 06:14:22 (PST)

I repainted it black with red panel inserts over the back fenders to resemble a 53 belair. It has 130k original miles, and was last driven summer 99. The car is in excellant shape but the frame is rusted through. I intend todo a frame up restoration but am having difficulty finding a frame. I would like to get one from southern us. please help. thanks John- Tuesday, December 14, 1999 at 05:55:18 (PST)

Comments: I recently purchased a '69 Chevelle Malibu. I am told it is a fairly rare car. Some of the options are L48 300 HP/350, Air conditioning, 12 bolt rear end, rear defog, multiplex stereo option, guages and tach option, and this really nifty vaccum operated trunk release. The car has only 64,000 original miles on it. I may have paid a little much for the car but what the hay, I fell in love with it. I could sure use some help deciding if the I should leave the car in original condition or if I can change a few minor things without affecting the value.
And if there is anyone in the Denver area reading this message I would love to show it off to someone who knows their Chevelles.- Friday, December 10, 1999 at 10:15:07 (PST)

I was thinking I have a pretty nice used 1969 chevelle rear window defrost switch (has chrome "click" switch)and bezel. It is presently locked away in storage 160 miles away, but I could get it in awhile. Anybody who is in dire need can have it....just make a decent donation to your local TOYS FOR TOTS Chapter .I don't know what they go for and I have no need. Once you get it you can place the value and donate accordingly. Anyone with interest let me know.Take Care.Shawn- Friday, December 10, 1999 at 05:23:37 (PST)

Comments: There's a 1969 350 Malibu Chevelle sitting in our driveway. It had been sitting without being fired up for close to a year. Without a hand on it, or key even so much as resting in the ignition. We fired it up not too long ago, and it went without a hassle on the first try (good ol' Chevelle's hey?? :o) However, it needs body work. It's got a hole on either side just behind the tires, each about the size of a fist, and a couple other trouble spots. It's had the body redone at home in the driveway/ garage, and then been repainted by a friend in town. Looking to redo it, was wondering what the average Canadian dollars cost would be (roughly) to have it done professionally, in cherry red, supposing it was primed at home before having it taken in.
Just curiosity basically...and would really like to have it ready for next summer.
Thanks

Comments: Need a 1969 el camino expert!! I own a 1968 el camino and I am going to add the rear quarter side marker bezels and lens to it. I have the 69 frame and lens and already have the hole cut out in the body. I'm having a problem with the chrome frame fitting flush against the body. The red lens fits perfectly in the hole I cut out but the red lens just sticks out enough to make about a quarter inch gap between the red lens assembly and the chrome frame. I won't fit flush. Does anyone know anything about how this is sould fit? Was the quarter panel on a 69 el camino indented to have a proper fit? I'm having the go around and would appreciate anyones feed back that might be able to help me out. Please e-mail comments. Thanks- Sunday, October 17, 1999 at 17:54:43 (PDT)

Comments: hi fellow chevelle enthusiasts. i am known as dan r. i have what i think is an awesome example of a 1969 ss. i purchased the car a bit over a year ago. since having the car i feel it is rather rare. the color is number 65 olympic gold. i am the third owner. the car has low miles at 69,000. i have done minor modifications, hooker 2 1/2 inch comp. headers with ceramic coating, 2 1/2 inch aluminized exhaust all the way back, msd pro billet distributor, taylor wires, station wagon coils, hi-jackers and comp. engineering chrome ladder bars. this gives it that classic 60's stance. the wheels are crager ss 4" front and 8" reversed rear. the engine is a 396/375 combo with a 4 speed and a 410 rear end. this car is super healthy. i think you guys should be getting the picture. i do have some stock parts, wheels, exhaust manifolds, etc. i don't know how to send pictures or put my car on the net because i don't have a scanner. if someone could phone me or e mail me an address i will forward pictures because i would like to see my car on the net. please help. 724-658-8844 dan ritchie 503 e sheridan avenue new castle, pa 16105. p.s. please inform me as to where i can see the pictures after we correspond. thank you much.- Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at 14:51:40 (PDT)

I bought the shifter without the shift levers (Ihave reverse but not the other two) and am unable to make the shifter work with the Hurst set that was on the car when I bought it. I have been unable to find these parts anywhere. Any ideas on how to make this set-up work or where I can locate a set of levers (not rods) would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Comments: I purchased a 1969 Chevelle SS in 1974. I kept this car until 1991. At that time I sold it to raise money to buy my husband an airplane. He was so touched by my doing this that he promised himself that one day he would get my car back for me. To my TOTAL surprise it appeared at my home in July, completely restored. The only thing that really bothers me is that it sits too long in the rear. I know that it probably needs new springs after 30 years but I want it to sit just a little higher that it originally did. If there is any way around it, I don't want to put air shocks on it. I would simply like to put a set of springs that would make it a little higher than normal without making it stand on its nose. Can anyone help me since I have been away from cars for several years and have lost my touch????- Friday, September 03, 1999 at 07:14:06 (PDT)

Comments: I have the opportunity to purchase a 1969 SS 396 El Camino with the following features:
375 HP 396 with the following engine code:TIII6JD
TH 400 AT, console shift
Holly carb # 3959164
Last three of the aluminum head casting # (viewed through passenger side valve cover oil breather): 842
Factory tach
12 bolt rear end
Appears to be functional factory AC.
Disk brakes
Question: I dont believe you could order AC with this engine. In addition, the 396 engine code JD decodes to 375 HP, manual trans and iron heads. The aluminum head and a TH 400 should decode to a KH. How could I determine the correct engine/trans options for this SS since the build sheets are long gone? In general, is the car's VIN # stamped on the engine, trans, and rear end?
As with Mopars, I can also decoded their cars through the VIN# and engine compartment tag.
Thanks

Comments: I currently have a '69 Malibu that is set up for bracket racing but due to the rules, I'm unable to offically race because I refuse to install a roll cage (I happen to like my interior). I do have a question if anyone could answer I would be more than thrilled: I'm removing the stock power steering box and install a '76 Vega manual steering box (need room for a lower altenater) and I have figured out everything thing but the pitman arm. The stock unit uses an arm that has a 1.25" dia. hole to connect to the steering box and the Vega box requires a 1.00" arm. How can I get around this?? Any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated. All matching numbers original Frost Green, original sales slip from Don Crow Chevrolet in Lubbock, build sheet, Protecto plate and even the Dealer pre sale check sheet and the original '69 Texas registration. Currently running a Arizona Historic Vehicle plate stamped from a Copper sheet (cool). Right now 80% restored, Doing a knockoff appearance wise of the Frost Green '69 COPO 427 featured in the newest issue of Super Chevy magazine. So far it's a dead ringer except I put back on the original vinyl top where as the COPO is vinyl topless. One of the last things I need is The original style Fan Shroud that went with the 350 with air conditioning. Can't find one and nobody seems to re-pop one. Does anyone know what the original style was and where I can get one? Was it the same as the Big Block? The small block shroud without air looks too small.

IT EVEN STILL HAD THE STOCK 307 IN IT. BUT I DECIDED TO ADD A LITTLE OF MY OWN PERSONALITY TO IT. SO I BUILT A 383 STROKER MOTOR FOR IT USING A FOUR BOLT BLOCK, WITH "PINK" RODS, KEITH BLACK 10.3 TO 1 PISTONS, AND A 280 COMP. CAM. AND FOR HEADS I'M USING A PAIR OF TRICK FLOW ALUMINUM, WHICH WILL ALLOW ME TO GET BY WITH PUMP GAS. I'M TRYING TO FIND SOMEONE TO DO THE PREP AND PAINT ON IT RIGHT NOW SO WHEN I DO I'LL WRITE BACK WITH THE FINISHED PRODUCT. I ALREADY HAVE THE PAINT AND SUPPLIES SO I CAN TELL YOU IT WILL BE DARK GREEN METALLIC WITH DARK GREEN INTERIOR AND A BLACK VYNIL TOP.- Saturday, April 24, 1999 at 21:03:35 (PDT)

Comments: My 69 ss is nicely restored. The body is as streight as an new car. Recently i found a set of hi perf heads and I'm presently setting the engine up to run these nice heads My question/problem though is electrical in nature though. My ss did not come with a gauge package. I found one and every thing hooked up fine except the ammeter gauge. The gauge pegs to the c or charge position when the iginition is on, engine running or not.Am I missing part of the original set up, a shunt resistor maybe or is it wiring problem. Has anyone there come across this problem before and if so do you have a solution? I would really appreciate a hand .- Thursday, April 22, 1999 at 17:14:36 (PDT)

Comments: Bringing a 69 SS back to life and I have a question for anyone willing to provide info.
So I have the dash apart and the Instrument Bezel (houses all the gauges etc.) is in my hands and it looks as though it's been painted black, (everything is black even what I seem to remember being outlined in silver). The two top corners of the plastic are broke/missing, the bottom portion has what I'm sure are non-oringinal holes where someone may have once mounted after market gauges etc.
If anyone can be of any help I welcome the comments. Thanks
Lou
I have numerous parts magazines including Year One, Ground Up..etc. and I don't see where this item is avail.
So...the burning question is where do I get one, or is there a repair which can be made to salvage what I already have???- Sunday, April 11, 1999 at 17:55:01 (PDT)

A question please.
Under the rear seat, behind the passenger side there is a strip of sheetmetal contoured from the underarea of the seat and traveling up to about the mid-backrest portion of the body. I seem to remember some sort of cable going under it but cannot find anything on it in books, manuals, etc. There are 4-5 screws which hold it into place.
Can anyone be of assistance and tell me what it might be? Harness to the rear runs on the driver's side.
It's been a long time and I am stumped. Thanks.- Wednesday, March 24, 1999 at 09:53:26 (PST)

Comments: I need help please. I want to buy a 69 chevelle SS for
my husband and I need more info and would like to know if
it is a good buy. It has 115,00 original miles, 396 big block
with aluminum heads and aluminum intake. It has a W stamped
on the heads and intake and I was told this was rare? Is this
true? The car also has the original cast iron exhaust manifolds
on it. PS, PB but it has drum front brakes. Interior is excellent,
has a muncy 4 speed, 12 bolt posi rear end, has all the SS
emblems, chrome is nice, body is in good shape and I could
not find any holes in th frame. Car has been repainted.
Any help would be appreciated. I want to surprise him!!!- Sunday, March 07, 1999 at 15:05:59 (PST)

The car has 25,000 oringinal miles on it. Over the years time has taken its tole on the car. Currently it is being stored outside humid summer weather and harsh winters have beaten the car unrecognizable. My dad wants to restore it to its orignal condition and show again someday. Presently we are looking for a reputable place to have the chassis and body work done in the New Jersey area. We would prefer a place that specializes in chevelles.
