As it is winter here in England and snow is on the ground!
It is time to consider other modifications. I would appreciate it if anybody has pics of 71/72 Pro-street Chevelles including Pro-street drag racing cars that they could send to me.This would make the long winter months more bearable and give me inspiration for new paintwork and other innovative ideas that you could share.
Wishing you all a very merry Xmas and peaceful new millenium.
Hope to hear from you soon.

Comments: I run a '71 Chevelle with a 468 big block, 4-bolt main, steel crank, 7/16 rods, iron rectangle port heads(bowl ported, manley ss valves, lunati springs & locks) Nitrous Works 300 hp plate system on a Weiand stealth intake with a Barry Grant 850cfm carb. I run a Lunati solid lifter cam @ 570 lift, lunati lifters, Crane roller rockers and pushrods. Hooker super comp headers with flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers and a complete 3" exhaust. Behind that mess I got a centerforce dual friction clutch, lakewood bellhousing, and bolted behind that is a Richmond 5-speed. I got a 12 bolt rear end geared w/355's and a powertrax locker tucked inside. The body is rust free and has 57000 original miles on it, as it was liberated from granny. She hooks up sweet and runs tight and if I could just keep u-joints from shattering I would be so freakin happy. Granny is no longer around, but I'm sure she would be giving me the stinky eye if she was...

Any suggestions as to the build codes I need to look at, their locations, etc. Any words of wisdom will be greatly appreciated. The car is probably worth the price if its real. Probably not worth the price if a clone.

Comments: I'm 18 and have decided to build a 1970 El Camino. I found a basket case for $500, straight body, good glass and chrome, all else shit. What little is here doesn't work, so I've decided to go full custom with it. It has the dash with idiot lights and a rectangular speedometer, but it's in bad shape. Where can I find a dash that will fit this car that has circular gauges? If you know of a compatible part or a company that makes custom dashes, let me know. Also, any recommendations on an overdrive manual transmission to bolt up to a small block? And any comments on Edelbrock's aftermarket MPFI kits? I'm going to college and have a part-time job, so I'm shooting for a happy medium between performance and economy. Thanks.

Comments: i am contemplating the purchase of a 70 chevelle. the car came from no cal. there is rust on both quarter panels the trunk pan is rusted as well. i guess my question is , should i bother with the expense or look for a different car. is the procedure of replacing the panels and trunk expensive. the cost of the car is $1700, interior is good and the rest looks pretty clean. its just that dang rust that bothers me....keep in mind i am on a limited budget.

any and all respones will be greatly appreciated.

Comments: In February my dad and I purchased a '71 Malibu that was unbelievably original. It has a bench seat, and I would much prefer buckets. How much would the value of the car go down if I change the seats? What if I make it an "SS Clone"?

The cars is original minus radiator, wheels/tires, original paint w/ minimal rust, and has only 82,000 miles.

Thanx

Comments: I am 16 and I just bought a lime green 1971 Chevelle Malibu. It's my first car and I am proud of it cuz I ain't the honda civic type. It has a 307 and lots of chrome every where, its an impecable car that doesn't know what snow is and I don't intend to show it to my car, cuz its from California so I guess it prefers hot and sweaty bikinis to cold and heavy winter coats (don't we all prefer bikinis). I would like it if someone could send me technical specs on the car, especially the engine cuz I am having a hard time finding out the hp,torque,comp... well petty much every thing I would like to know. The guy who sold it to me says it has 305 with a 400 turbo (but I know it's a 307 cuz I ain't a retard but I am not so sure about the 400 turbo thing). So any info would be apreciated. If u want pix I have some just email me.

I can put my Accord in the bed. Original everything, dash perfect, no cracks, upholstery torn where driver sits-- otherwise great. My mechanical friend just tuned it, said it should go for another 200,000. No leaks. Automatic, no a/c, original radio (does not work)....GREAT CAR, love her. Can anyone tell me if she is worth anything? I am curious, not wanting to sell...Thanks.

Comments: I recently bought a Chevelle with an identity crisis. I don't know anything about it's past. The VIN and cowl tags indicate 1971 Malibu V8 2-door hardtop. The problem is that is looks exactly like a 1970 SS. It has all the SS emblems, hood and trim; dual headlights and single rectangular taillight each side; round gauge cluster and 1970-looking interior. I've heard 2 different explanations for this: the car is a 1971 Malibu with 1970 parts; or this is a 1970 model year car which was actually built in 1971, thus the 1971 ID #s.

Can anybody help identify this nice Chevelle? (Bright Blue metallic paint w/black stripes, black vinyl top, black bucket-seat interior w/floor shift, automatic, 350 V8.)

I happened to ride by it and decided to stop and just look at it , well so much for looking , it only had 65,620 original miles and garage keep! The interior only needs a steering wheel and a headliner. The exterior was repainted the original color but the age is starting to show . I had it on the lift at work and nothing is rusting at all ( very rare in this state ) .

My first and only muscle car. The car came from Alberta, Canada, originally. I am the fourth owner, and the last. I have been through 3 small blocks (350) 2 TH350 trannys, tons of brake pads and lots of tires. The body was pulled off the frame and the frame sandblasted about 6 years ago. I picked up the car dirt cheap 5 years ago. The body is not great, but mechanically, it's excellent.
My next project is to box the control arms. Then, this fall the body and next summer some real power.

I haven't driven the car more than 8-9 miles since I've owened it. The car isnt on the road yet hopefully it will be by late July. Originally the car was what I think is Willow Green Metalic. Then after a couple of fender benders the car was re-painted what I think is Capri Gold Metalic. Now the car is mostly primered black. As of the moment the car is pretty stock(except for the rewireing that someone tried to do).

It has over 100k miles and the engine runs decent with a 2 barrel carb. the current owner is wanting $1900 firm. is this a good price? the interior is in good shape except were the driver sits. It appears this was the little old lady's car that she bought new. I believe if i ended up getting it i would fix it up as a SS clone and not restore it to original. I could possibly do some drag racing with it as well.

Comments: I've been working on my '71 for about a year I bought it for $500. My first thought was to have a real nice SS (clone) after taking just about everything that had any rust on it off I didn't have much left. A friend talked me into a four link! ok so plans change. from there came the 12 piont cage shorted dana 60 with 5.13 gears, 33 inch goodyear slicks new rear panels that had to be legnthed, a nice gift was a new set of wildwood disc that would complete the rear. up front is disc brakes from a '92 firebird and moroso spring (AVO in the back) I still don't have the floor pans in yet but got them from sherman ind. My plans are for fiberglass hood & trunk lid and a real sharp paint job by the end of summer Maybe by then I think of what I need for a masive horsepower pumping big block. hope I can work extra overtime or my wife will start to bitch. LOL . I'll let you know.

My car came from the factory with idot lights, since that time I have installed a set of factory gauges with the factory dash wiring harness, so far so good, now my problem. My forward wiring harness and engine harness that came with the car are in pretty good to excellant condition but of course that are set up for idot lights, will they work with the gauge dash wiring harness? I'm havig a problem with the engine temp sending unit wiring harnesses, my factory assemble manual show a seperate wire running to the right side temp sending unit - is this a simple thing to fix or do I just need to trash the engine/lamp wiring and buy new sets? I would like to spend the $300.00 plus on other parts, anyone have a very good to excellant set for sale at a reasonable price?

Also I am planning on putting a Multi port injection (MPI)or Tuned port injection (TPI) on my big block. My BBC has Edelbrock 6045 heads and a Comp cam 280H cam. Does anyone have any suggestions and/or experience in this field. I would welcome information on either system to aid me in making a choose as to which is better. Thanks

Comments: I have a 1971 Chevelle that I found in a back yard for $1500.00 the motor runs pretty good considering it sat for 3 years. The car needs new interior and some odds and ends (weather stripping, etc). It has a 350 with Edelbrock accessories and an overstock cam. I need to know what the timing of the car should be and if anyone in the state of Florida has any kind of stuff for it. I need a hood, seats, and odds and ends. Let me know what you've got and we'll work with it

She traded in a 68 SS Impala BB for this car. Problem I have that I would like info on is - my heat disappears at idle, but comes back at increased rpm's, but fades again once engine settles down to a constant rpm. New radiator, heater core, hoses, and thermostat. It helps if I keep the Radiator a fullest level, but not much. Got any suggestions. Also look at members.viperlink.net/tatterp/dragonrider/
click on Griffon 's button to see my Green Dragon.

No motor or transmission. Anyone know where to go to get the original build information? Can't find a build sheet anywhere in the car. Want to take it back to original.

( I am telling my age !!) OOOOHHH !!! The memories of cruising in that car. I still have all of the original paperwork including the bill of sale and owners manual. It has never been wrecked and had only a few specks of rust before it was repainted. I can tell from visiting this webpage it has certinly increased in value from the $3,200 fully loaded I paid for it. To all of you enthusists, I wish you as much happiness as I hAve had with my Chevelle.

Comments: I have a great 71 Malibu 350. I got it from my mother who got it from her mother who bought it new. We have tryed to keep the car as orginal as posiable. It has a vinal top on it. We have replaced the top I think twice, under the vinal is a lot of rust and a few patch jobs (unnoticiable unless you took off the vinal). Its about time to replace the top again and the interior top's fabric was ripped by my sister and needs to be replaced. So my question is that Ive been thinking about making it a hard top convertable (due partly to the great Sandiego weather). How badly do you think it would devalue the car? Thoughts and sugestions?

I just finished doing this to a 69 Impala with a 327-pwerglide and someone pulled in front of me and wrecked it. Now I get to start all over and play with my Malibu. Does anyone have a good console or any info on where to get one? All suggestions would be appreciated.
