Comments: We have a 1976 Malibu Classic, 350cuin v8, 4dr, and we are looking for a picture/description of the throttle linkage. The route and maybe an idea why it hangs-up. It binds whe pressing down on it and feels like it is hooked on something. This happens whe in park, no problem starting it, as you go into gear, it hangs. Can't find the spot of the hang-up. inside and out) I found some believe it or not through GM. I would check your local dealer. However, the price is steep.

Comments: The car is a 74 4dr Malibu classic w/400 small block(I think).
My mother bought the car in 1991 and it had one owner and 29000 miles on it. It now has 65000 original miles, the paint is fading, and the interior has some minor glitches(cracked dash, knobs missing). I was wondering where I can get an estimate of how much this car is worth.- Wednesday, August 01, 2001 at 12:42:16 (PDT)

Comments: Brett, who do you know that has interior parts for 1974+ Chevelles? The rest of us can't find them, so if you have a source please pass it on. 1973 Chevelles used very similar interior pieces to the rest (74 and up), though you might find the patterns a bit different. The dashes will all interchange, as will door panels, seats and most of the trim.- Sunday, July 15, 2001 at 06:10:34 (PDT)

Comments: Well, I've got a '74 Chevelle 396 (obviously non stock). Restoring the interior, heads, getting a '70 SS paint job. Will look and run awesome when I'm done. Hey Dave Leonard, guess what, I'm not demanding any "giveaway" prices for my parts, I'm spending a lot of good money for quality peices, as does everyone else I know who works on their G3.
Magazines don't include them because it takes big $$ to bring up the engine bay to a level that they'll bother with... and few people can find a G3 (73-77's) worth the effort any more. Early Chevelle owners have the advantage of their cars already having the big engines with the high horsepower & torque... your question may just as well have been "Why don't car magazines include '70 Chevelle 4 door 307's??". We're taking cars that looked good but were performance dogs and giving the early Chevelle crews a run for their money.
We complain about being left out because we have cars that look and run as good as any early Chevelle, but we get no credit. Any fool can take a '64-72 Chevelle, find original parts for it, make it look and run good, etc... we have to constantly scrounge and battle to find parts that you G1 and G2 owners can just pick up the phone and order with a credit card. Early Chevelle owners have had it too easy for too long, and now their paying for it, literally. Don't get me wrong, I like the G1 and G2 Chevelles, but the G3's are what appeal to me. We've got good genes in our cars, we know it.
Don't dis my G3!- Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at 13:53:59 (PDT)

Comments: I put together a web site in 1996 specific to 73-77 Chevelles and have been working with great companies like ChevelleSPO and ECParts, trying to spread the word about them and the parts they offer for our cars. I've also been spreading the word about the 73-77 Chevelle forum at Chevytalk (www.chevytalk.com). Come check us out. We're growing larger each day!
By the way, I own a 1976 Chevelle Laguna Type S-3,350/4bbl, swivel buckets and console, Mahogany with Antique White sport roof and sport stripes. The car is undergoing restoration, but is driven daily. I have spent a lot of time wading through incorrect information about these cars and I have tried to compile accurate and complete data on my site. Drop in and take a look: http://www.geocities.com/76lagunas3
I'm also holding what I think is the first ever 73-77 Chevelle / El Camino get-together at my home on Saturday, July 7th. If there are any Michigan 73-77 owners out there interested in attending, please email me for details! I plan to take lots of photos and send them to several magazines to prove that Chevrolet did indeed make Chevelles beyond 1972!- Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at 12:33:48 (PDT)

Comments: No one like 73-77 chevelles because of the body change. According to Most (Most '72 and ealier owners) people, the begining of emissions killed the Muscle car idea. It may have something to do with the fact that my car came stock with a measly 145 HP 350. The 454s were pittyfull too. Don't get me wrong. I believe the body change in 73 was a much needed one. As for the expectation of low prices, it's not just expected, its true. My 73 Laguna was purchased for 4900.00 a year and a half ago. Its all origional with only 28k miles. This is a REAL Deal. If it were a 72, it would have cost me twice as much. Since then, I have seen a 26k mile,73 Laguna go for 3500.00! And a 73 Laguna 454, factory 4speed, # matching, go for 5200.00. And too many more to list.
As far as I am concerned, let the whole world hate the years we love. It only makes the cars we love cost us less to buy. I just don't get it. Almost all my buddies say my car is ugly. I just don't see it. Besides, I like having a very RARE car. Camaros, Mustangs, 65-72 chevelles, ect.-there all a dime a dozen. I was at 2000 Woodward Dream Cruz, and didn't see another 73 Chevelle Laguna (Did see ONE guy with a 73 SS 454 high rider). All you 73-77 Chevelle and Laguna owners- I call you to Woodward 2001!!- Monday, June 25, 2001 at 07:15:58 (PDT)

Comments: Regarding frame questions on '78 + Malibu's--
My service manuals indicate there is no difference in 4 door sedan frames or Monte Carlo frames (1978-1983). If this is true, would other 'G' body frames interchange as well?
Cutlass, Regal, Century, Grand Prix, Lemans, etc.? And if these other vehicles are essentially the same platform, has anyone swapped a later model frame under an earlier model Malibu?
My son has a '79 with typical frame rot behind both tires...would like to pick up a mid '80's vehicle that would be able to replace the entire frame. This would also provide (depending on donor car) a stronger rear end (MC SS, Buick T-type, etc.) possibly.
Any thoughts on the subject are appreciated!

Comments: Questions: Why do so many 1973-77 Chevelle owners think they should be entitled to buy parts for "giveaway" prices (especially guys with Laguna's and SS 454's?) Why are these same people trying to build a car they cant afford? Why do they complain so much about being left out? Why should companies reproduce parts for these cars when 73-77 owners dont buy what is available? Why dont magazines include these cars? Why is the 73-77 bodystyle so disliked? Anyone have answers?- Thursday, June 21, 2001 at 20:10:49 (PDT)

Comments: I have a 69 chevelle I bought when I was 14 from a little old lady with a 307 & 3 on the tree. Over the years(19 of them) it transformed to street racer to drag strip and now back to street legal bruiser 454 4-speed , aluminum flywheel and the same 456 12 bolt posi and ladder bars I had on it in high school.
I also just purchased ,from original owner a 73 SS chevelle , 350 4-speed and 342 posi. Swivel buckets. Pretty much no frills(NO AC, PW or PDL). But it had 82,000 original miles with the original tires still on it. All original belts and hoses. Never has had a valve cover off of it. Needs some minor fixen, but what a find, oh and NO rust.- Monday, June 11, 2001 at 17:38:39 (PDT)

It has 97,000 original miles and I am begining to think it is a mutant car. In the dash, it has 2 heater vents, but they are simply for looks, they are not connected to anything. There is a spot for a clock, but it did not come with a clock. There is a wood grain design on the dash around the steering column. It has been in the family since the day of its purchase and has not been altered in anyway. I purchase every kind of restoration magazine and find that the '75 chevelle parts do not match and there are not many of them either. The rear view mirrors are of the sport rally design and the upolstrey is of a different design then what the magazines specify. Comments: I have a 73malibu with 57,000 orig. miles on it. It was a 350 two barrel with a 350 turbo. It now has a 1971 402 big block with alot of go fast parts on it. the trans is a 76 400 turbo with a BM shift kit and a 10" 3000 stall conv. It also has 373 posi. rear in the orig. 10 bolt housing. The orignal color was white with black inter. and top. The body was redone and painted GM bright white with a light coat of pearl mixed in it. It also has a 4" fiberglass lift off hood to help lighten up the car. I also removed everything related to the heating and ac. I also installed auto meter gauges and tach. And it has a BM ratchet shifter. I also removed the gas tank and replaced it with a 15gal. fuel cell. The 1970 era classic cragars are mounted on Mickey Thompson tires. Glad to know that there are still alot of 73 chevelles still out there. I am so tired of looking at and hearing about SS camaros and earlier model chevelles. there a dime a dozen. I have a motto that i believe in. It goes like this. DARE TO BE DIFFERENT DARE TO BUILD DIFFERENT WHY BUILD A CLONE WHEN YOU CAN BUILD YOUR OWN! 73 that is.- Sunday, April 08, 2001 at 22:56:04 (PDT)

Comments: I own a 1975 Malibu coupe. It has been in primer since high school. Up to about 1 1/2 years ago it had a 350 w/ 750 Edelbrock carb, RPM intake manifold, TRW forged pistons (11:1), 882 heads (pocket ported), 280 Comp cam w/hedman shorty headers and 3" Flowmasters. My big downfall was the rear diff. It had the original 2.73 open diff. Just before I lost the lower end I had installed Richmond 4.10's and a stock chevelle clutch-type locker. BIG DIFFERENCE when it comes to driving by the seat of your pants. I just purchase a 79 Chevy PU w/a 454 TH400 very very cheap ---$350. The engine sounded great but it need some carb work. The plan was to plant the fat block into the A-body but before I do I would like to find some information on RPO codes. I have tried to find a website that I could punch in my VIN and whalla! I could tell what options it had of the line. According to my research I believe that the beast came out with a 350 2barrel but that's it. I want to know if the headlights are for a 75 or a 76. I bought the car from the original owner's daughter. The car was apparently wrecked before it got off the lot new. The customer bought the car with the front clip smashed up and fixed it with parts from a 454 car. The sticker on the core support said 454 cid 4barrel. ????? poss. had a wrecked SS in the boneyard already. The car is still rust free, but none of the sheetmetal matches. I forgot to mention that I also Crashed the front clip after only owning it a week, but that was over 8 years ago. Can someone please help me with finding door skins, shells and bumper filler pieces for my old high school toy?
Thanks guys and keep up those old cars afterall they are a part of American History.- Monday, March 12, 2001 at 19:57:06 (PST)

Comments: My current car is an all original 17k mile SS 454 4 speed survivor. I recently bought it from the original owner, who obviously used it very little and was obsessive in its care. This car is flawless in every way, the only departures from original are a Sun tach on the column and ugly mud flaps, which I am removing. The original owner added these in 1973. The only factory part that has been replaced is the battery.
It has all the original documentation, has always been garaged, never seen rain or snow, has the original paint, original tires, (oddly enough, Firestone F60 14 Wide Ovals instead of the Goodyears, maybe because it's a Canadian car) and the spare, jack and mat have never been out of the trunk.
It's code 11 white with saddle swivel buckets and console, tilt, tach and gauges, AM/FM 8 track, rear defogger, 3.42 posi, bumper impact strips with bumper guards and body side molding. This is a non-air car, which in the spirit of a true muscle-car, makes for a much cleaner engine compartment. My last 3 '73s had A/C and since this will not be a driver, I don't think I'll miss it.- Friday, March 02, 2001 at 19:08:38 (PST)

The Chevelle was used as a family car with our son and daughter driving it. In the spring of 1989 with 131,000 miles, it was time to return the SS to its orginal condition. In the year 2001
with 163,000 miles on our Chevelle, we are still showing & crusing in Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, & Tennessee. The Chevelle is all orginial except for radial tires. Comments: I am 18 and the proud owner of my 73 SS. The car was given to me and did not run, it was in real bad shape. But now 2 years later I have complety redone the interior in black with yellow racing stripes. I have recently painted it a viper blue with flake. I have also put a BAD "350" motor in it with an Edelbrock 750 carb, hooker 3inch headers,MSD6AL ignition,202 heads, mild cam, high raise intake,410 gears, and high volume oil pump. And yes I eat mustangs and crap out hondas.- Wednesday, January 03, 2001 at 18:54:29 (PST)

Comments: I juat bought my 73 Chevelle SS last April, and have had hardly any time to work on it. I got it from a guy who bought it from an auction house to restore. the car went directly from the race track to the auction house (with some stuff taken off probably). it's an auto with a 350, rust in the front floor panels and driver's side rear fender, some tare in the floor from traction bares, a 4 point role bar, no interior (except the role bar and original bucket seats), and alot of other little things that need to be fixed. this is my first car, and I bought a normal 73 Chevelle for a parts car. I know a little about what I'm doing, but if someone could provide any good sites or parts companies that have good restoration info I would really appreciate it. also, if anyone has been to Sandpoint in the past for Lost in the 50's, it's a kick in the ass ain't it. the classic car show is the largest in the northwest. again, if anyone could provide me with any info I would really appreciate it.- Monday, January 01, 2001 at 16:05:08 (PST)

Comments: It's about time I finally found some people that are nuts about Laguna's! I have a 1974 Laguna S-3 with original 454. If I can answer any questions for anyone just ask. I have studied Laguna's for 15 years now and I have aquired a lot of knowledge on the subject. I have the complete options manual for 1974 Chevelles (all) and I also have the specifications manual. For all you people that are looking for parts, you will not find many people that will divulge their sources because the parts are just that hard to find. Parts catalogs are also nonexistant for our car but I will be glad to help as best as I can. I myself am looking for the complete set of window trim for the small side windows (on a 2 door) if anyone is parting out a car. Or I would also like a complete set of window louvers off of a 1975 or 1976. Please drop me a line if anyone can help or if I can help you.- Friday, December 29, 2000 at 11:31:54 (PST)

She runs a bored 30 over 350 with Edlebrock Preformer package. The drive train consists of a B&M converted 700R4 spining a 3.73 posi 10 bolt rearend. The new project started out as a parts car that was too nice to part out. It was a 73 4 door malibu with a bone stock 2bbl 350. The black interior is near perfect and the body has only mild rust. She already has headers with true duals. We just finished the performer update to the engine and it has just been dropped of to be painted this winter. I need some information for it. I want to put the 73 lower door and fender stripe paint job but I haven't been able to get some dimensions for it. If anyone has or can get them I would greatly appreciate it. Comments: I have a 1975 4 door Malibu Classic. It has a 350 engine. I have been restoring it for 1 year. I painted it cherry red. No rust on my car. I'm currently restoring the inside a little at a time. I laid black carpet down. Now I'm trying to decide what to do with the interior color. It is now tan. Any suggestions? I only have 1 problem with my car. It runs well, but once the motor gets hot it will not crank. If anyone is good at troubleshooting, please let me know what you think.- Saturday, September 09, 2000 at 13:57:11 (PDT)

Comments: 76' Malibu classic. 350 engine/tranny. Just put in brand new Holley 600cfm four barrel carb (manual choke), edlebrock performer intake, true 2 inch card spacer. Completely free flowing dual exhaust with flow tech headers and glass packs (extremely loud, just the way I like it! Hehehe..) Just replace all the rubber bushings with ployeurithane, brand new shocks,1 inch lowering springs for the front end, very tight handeling (you better believe I'm hittn' those corners!) Brand new plugs and wires and a 40,000 volt performance coil for the distributer. Just rebuilt the transmission and had a high performance shifting kit put in, it's an automatic but it gives tight racing-like shifts now. The body is clean and straight no dents no scratchs, paint almost looks brand new. Ohhh man you better believe this car turns heads!- Saturday, March 25, 2000 at 10:36:49 (PST)

Comments: I have a '73 Corvette with the 454 and am giving thought to adding a newer stereo. I understand that there are places which produce factory looking decks with up to date components. Does anyone know where I can find this business.
If anyone has other information regarding shielding the electronics to reduce the noise, it would be appreciated,

Comments: I am looking for information that will help my husband to build his 1974 Chevelle Malibu. It has a 350 cid engine and a 350 turbo transmission. He has put an Edlebrock Performer RPM intake manifold on it. It also has headers and a new Demon Carburator 750 cfm. He has also put on an HEI Ignition. We have had this car for 4 years and we have been unable to get the performance we would like out of it. If you have any information that you would be willing to pass on to us it wouldbe greatly apprieciated.- Monday, February 14, 2000 at 22:15:09 (PST)

Anyone have any ideas about a good carb/intake combo and a recommended rearend gear ratio? I considering a Edelbrock combo with about 750 cfm. and a putting in a B&M shift kit.

Comments: I have owned 2 '73 chevelles. The first one was an original SS 350 TWO BARREL, with a TH-350 and 2.73 gears. The paint was a dark red almost maroon metallic with a silver or argent TWO TONE paint scheme along the bottom, with a black vinyl top. Unfortunately that car suffered too many Wisconsin winters. I ended up taking all the black interior;including the swivel buckets and console. I also believe I may have some spare trim laying around somewhere. Anyway, the donor body for my next '73 build-up is much cleaner and 70% complete. With a Summit Racing crate motor putting out 400 plus h.p. and a M-21, with 3.73 richmond gears in the original 10 bolt. Long live the 10th anniversary Chevelle.- Tuesday, January 25, 2000 at 11:37:39 (PST)
