I am thinking about using C5 front calipers and rotors on the rear. Any problems with doing that?
Has anyone done it and if so do you have a backing plate or template of some kind I could copy . Thanks.

NOOOOO. You will WAY over brake the rear running calipers that big on the back, I guess you could if you were running 14" Alcons up front. Anything short of 6 piston WC brakes in the front will be fine with C5 REAR calipers on the back.

Having C5's up front confirms NO. You can't have your front and rear brakes matched. When you step on the brakes at any speed, at least 60% of the vehicle weight shifts to the front wheels (depending on how hard you apply them, much more in a panic or heavy stop situation), this is why front rotors/calipers are always larger than the rears. Use LS1 or C5 rear brakes and you will be much happier.

OK thanks. I will use the C5 rear's on the rear. One more question. Since I would have to make a baking plate anyway would setting it all up to use C5 front rotors and C5 rear calipers gain leverage or is that getting back to to much brake in the rear.
I am thinking I will have to make the baking plate to use C5 on the rear, but will the backing plate on the camaro work with the C5 caliper/rotor. Thanks again.

For the same reasons, you don't want a larger the same or larger diameter rotor on the rear. If you go to GM and buy LS1 Camaro backing plates you can bolt them right up to your axle and just run all off the shelf stuff, plus you can use the OE Camaro park brake stuff too.

No, they don't. The 2 are almost indentical but not quite. You can use the C5 calipers as cores to buy reman LS1 calipers. I beleive A1 Cardone has rebuilds that include the abutments and pads for like 110.00 ea with core, the LS1 brackets are about 60.00 each so the whole would run about 350.00 if you had C5 cores.

Thanks again. It's probably not worth making brackets then to be able to use C5,s. I dont care about having a parking brake do you know if the LS1 PB is part of the caliper or is it in the rotor like the C5.

It is in the rotor just like the C5. The C5 brakes and LS1 Camaro brakes almost identical both front and rear. Very subtle differences that make them not interchangeable.
